The Mid-Valley Bicycle Club has a history of being a touring club - one where going on extended overnight trips as a group has played a big part in maintaining our identity as a bicycling club.
We’ve come to realize that what we offer is unique; a way for individuals or groups of friends to join with other like-minded riders to create overnight bicycle adventures together.
With the survey linked below we are opening the tour creation and participation process for 2024 to a broader audience.
In the survey are a dozen plus tour options that range from:
One night of camping, 'Intro to Touring' events
Multi-day gravel explorations in eastern Oregon and the Coast Range
Long weekend Gravel Camps - all the comforts of car camping with day rides from a remote 'base'.
Our signature Loop Tour that usually covers over 400 miles over 9 days
New this year, credit card tours that give you a bed to sleep in every night
Plus many more! Follow the survey link below to see them all
How it works:
Club backing: The MVBC Touring Committee supports the planning and has plenty of resources to throw into the mix but the job of planning each tour is intended to be in the hands of the participants.
Costs: The target is to keep costs to a minimum and only charge for the shared group expenses, like SAG vehicle costs or shared campground fees.
MVBC Membership: Due to our insurance coverage, membership in MVBC is a requirement for tour participation but at $25/yr for individuals and $35/yr for a family, membership is a bargain! You can join at any time but must sign up before registering for a tour.
Volunteering at MVBC: We also ask for volunteer time to help support our programs, because we are an all-volunteer organization and volunteer time is the fuel that keeps us running. Several tours on the survey are very popular and volunteer hours are used to establish priority for the spaces available.
Next Steps: Please take this survey to help the Touring Committee determine where to focus their efforts in 2024 in supporting tours we have in our library and, more importantly, let them know if there are tours you have an interest in doing that we do not currently have on our schedule.
Survey hints:
Indicating that you are “Very Likely” or “Possibly” interested in a tour will get you on a follow up list for news on that tour.
Indicating that you can help with planning will get you an invitation to be on that tour's planning team.
Attention eBike riders:
If you're interested in joining our tours and rely on charging stations for your eBike, please indicate your interest in the comments section. This question is simply for us to understand the level of interest in having charging stations available during these tours. However, please note that indicating interest does not guarantee the availability of charging stations.
